FULL-COLOR CONVERSION

Corbis
Los Angeles, California
2000

Corbis is a preeminent visual solutions provider, holding one of the world’s largest and most distinctive collections of news, editorial, sports, historical, celebrity, and fine art imagery. Owned solely by Bill Gates and with headquarters in Seattle and offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Paris, Düsseldorf, Vienna, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Tokyo, Corbis images are seen daily in publications, advertisements, and the media by millions of people around the world.

Pizzulli Associates completed this warehouse conversion project for Corbis’ creative photographic digitizing center, a facility that includes a 5,000-square-foot state-of-the-art photography studio — large enough to support heavy vehicles and other props.

The modern design of the administrative area uses a broad color palette and makes the most of this immense space. Architectural lighting and backdrop-like sweeps of fabric are suspended from the facility’s exposed ceiling beams, taking on both aesthetic and structural significance. Custom wood furnishings and add warmth to the open work and conference areas.
